Objectives
- Demonstrate an understanding of the entire End of Life (EOL) process
- Utilizing resources made available to ED staff (RN & MD)
- Demonstrate empathy by interacting and communicating with the family
- Understanding the difference between a Coroner’s case and not a Coroner’s case
- Demonstrate appropriate documentation
- Demonstrate and discuss appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Case Scenario
- Patch call comes to the ER: 2-month-old F, enroute with EMS
- Unresponsive and CPR in progress. NO ROSC reported enroute.
- Intubated but IV access not obtained.
- Total time: 15-20min.
- Time of arrival: approx. 2-5min.
